Caregivers Matter – Now More Than Ever

By: | Tags: | Comments: 0

This November is National Family Caregivers Month, a time to celebrate, honor and support the millions of people who serve as caregivers for aging loved ones and those with chronic disease or disability. With the number of family caregivers growing every year, we know that supporting these family caregivers matters – now more than ever.
We, along with our friends as Lotsa Helping Hands, are committed to addressing the caregiving crisis. It isn’t usual for caregivers to be overwhelmed by the question “what can I do to help?” The usual answer is, “I’m so overwhelmed that I don’t even know where to begin.”
Through APDA there is a way you can help a caregiver you know. APDA’s Lotsa site, powered by Lotsa Helping Hands is a free service that brings together friends, family members and colleagues to help care for your loved one with Parkinson’s disease. Create a community to help organize you needs and keep track of the tasks you need help with as you care for a loved one with Parkinson’s disease. Go to our Free Caregiving Service page.
Family and friends can use the calendar to post and sign up for tasks that bring respite to the family such as meals delivery, rides to medical appointments or help with child or pet care. Additionally, members can post messages of support to the family on the Message Board and easily and safely store important information for the family in the Vital Information section.
